When will the madness stop! No really! A dentist who bought John Lennons tooth at an auction in 2011 is now hoping to clone the Beatle’s frontman using DNA from the molar. John Lennon allegedly gave the molar tooth to his former housekeeper Dorothy Jarlett in the late 60’s or 70’s. A sworn affidavit says it is Lennon’s tooth, where it was sold by Jarlett’s son at an auction house in Manchester, England for $30,000.
“If scientists think they can clone mammoths, then John Lennon could be next,” says Canadian dentist Michael Zuk, who bought the tooth. “Most people would say I was crazy, but I think it’s fantastic.”
Dr. Zuk has apparently launched a project to extract the DNA from the rotten tooth. “To potentially say I had a small part in bringing back one of rock’s greatest stars would be mind-blowing.” He later adds,”I am nervous and excited at the possibility…”.
Again, folks, just when you think you have heard it all, stories like this surprise you. All the best to those involved. I think you should just ‘Let it be’.
